Continuous flow screenchanger
The Cofit screenchangers of F series are worldwide the synonym par excellence of the screenchanger itself.
The reason of the success of the F screenchangers is the main advantage which they offer, i.e. the working continuity.
In fact, thanks to a Cofit patent included in the F series, it has been possible to develop a filtration system of plastic materials with continuous cycle, without the need of interrupting the extrusion process for changing the screens.
This series was created in order to meet the request of such plants where it was important to keep the work continuity, in order to get the maximum homogeneity of the material and a high level of filtration.
Replacement of the filtering screens during the production
- The F model consists of a metallic body, which contain two channels, through which the melted material to be filtered travels simultaneously. The flow of the material inside these two channels is controlled by 4 valves, placed in the central part of the screenchanger.
- When one of the two screens needs to be cleaned, first the inlet valve to its channel is closed, and subsequently the corresponding outlet valve. This operation is necessary to channel all the flow of material into the second channel, through the other filtering unit. Once the flow has been diverted, it is possible to extract the filtering unit which needs cleaning.
- When the cleaned filtering unit has been reinserted, in order to reactivate its flow channel, it is sufficient to partially reopen the inlet valve, open the escape pin valve on the side of the filter to allow the air left in the channel escape.
- As soon as the material also starts to come out, the pin valve can be shut and the inlet valve can be completely opened. At this stage the outlet valve can also be reopened to let the material flow freely in the channel.
