Scrapeaway is a continuous and automatic screen changer for plastic recycling. This screen changer typically operates by filtering dirty plastics through a laser-drilled screen plate that is constantly “scraped” by a steel blade.

HOW SCRAPEAWAY WORKS

Automatic and continuous Scrapeaway melt filtration system can be currently considered the top-quality screen changer among those based on a laser filter solution. Cofit screen changer of the series Scrapeaway is manufactured and serviced according to the highest quality standards. The laser-drilled screen plate is the key-component of the entire system.

LASER-DRIVEN TECHNOLOGY SCREEN CHANGER

The extrudate enters the screen changer, and is conveyed through a laser-micro drilled and hard faced stainless-steel screen plate, while contaminants are caught on the screen-plate surface. When waste builds up, and backpressure reaches the threshold level, a rotating blade sweeps the screen, thus “scraping contaminants away” through a discharge duct.

LASER FILTRATION
Scrapeaway is based on a laser micro-drilled steel plate, up to 300 microns (50 mesh)

AUTOMATIC AND UNINTERRUPTED EXTRUSION

Scrapeaway screen changer ensures uninterrupted extrusion, even when processing highly-contaminated materials. Unlike conventional screen changers, requiring extensive and constant operator attention, Scrapeaway operation is fully automated and and uninterrupted.

HANDLING A WIDE MATERIAL RANGE, FILTERING ANY CONTAMINANT

Scrapeaway screen changer is suitable for processing a broad range of materials, including PE, PP, PS, PC, and ABS, it operates at temperatures up to 280° C (536° F) and pressures up to 200 bar (2,900 psi). Scrapeaway can handle up to 10% paper and other foreign objects up to 19 mm (0.75 inch) in diameter. Contaminants such as metal, wood, paper, textile fibers, unmolten plastic granules or clogs, and low percentages of aluminum, lead, copper, rocks and other impurities are well tolerated.
